CHICAGO– Head banging and air guitaring was the order of the day a couple weeks ago, as Dave Mustaine of the group Megadeth made an appearance at the Borders Books in Chicago on State Street to greet fans and sign his new book, “Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir.”
Mustaine was an member of Metallica starting in 1981, but was fired from that band in 1983. That same year, determined to make a group that would be more successful than his former bandmates, he founded Megadeth with bassist Dave Ellefson. With several albums behind them, and Mustaine’s 2009 ranking as the number one metal guitarist, Megadeth has assured their place in heavy metal history.
After making his appearance at Borders on August 20th, Mustaine played before a packed house later that night at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago.
